Altered Thoughts

FKO was wonderful again this year. It really is like coming home again. The memory of the weekend hasn't settled down enough in my mind to allow me to write a complete con report but I can say that it has been a very long time since I've both been so happy and seen so many happy, smiling and laughing people all gathered together. The music over the weekend was wonderful - so many songs and so many wonderful emotions. Thank you FKO's concom for bringing such magic and music to one weekend.

The cast came off today. Next on list is physio and regaining normal mobility. I wish my migraines could be fixed surgically. Living with them is challenging and very tiring.

really hate winter right now. Very depressed over being stuck up north because of snow storm. Was supposed to be at dessert party in Brighton today... an event that has been going on yearly for a long time and I've never missed one. Until this year. We actually started the 2 hour drive down state but when we had passed nearly a dozen serious accidents on I-75 before we'd even made it 40 miles from home it was decided that turning back was the wiser choice. So back we went and now I'm home, very depressed. To add to it things have not been going well in a number of area of life - really needed a good social time to escape from reality for a while. *sigh*

Thanks to all my friends who left notes on my previous post. Its nice to know that there are friends out there. It helps to keep going. Hope to see many of you at 'Fusion.

Ankle still hurts alot, not really a surprise there, but annoying. I'm hoping that improvement will start soon. If pain doesn't ease up I won't be able to return to work when I hoped and that has a whole set of problems that I don't want to think about.

Still no word on the car. I guess one benefit to the timing is that I'm not going to be driving for a while anyway. Not allowed until cast is off. Best thing of course with that is that husband is ok. Really kind of amazing that he didn't get any injuries at all.

surgery went fine. recovery period underway, pain moderate and constant. I'll be in a cast for 6 wks.

In other news, my husband was involved in a car/semi accident today on the z-bridge. He's ok but car may be totaled. not something we can afford right now.

Latest news: MRI shows that ligament is still completely torn. Recommendation from Dr. is surgery. I haven't decided what to do. Frankly I'm terrified.

MRI postponed. Hospital won't do it with just the authorization from the insurance policy that is paying for it - they insist that my regular insurance also has to agree to the testing, even though that policy will not be paying for it at all. I'm very upset and frustrated right now over all this. All I want to do is find a way to regain full use of my ankle, heal enough to not be in constant pain and be free of crutches again. Apparently that is too much to ask.

Still on crutches. No more physio - I'd stopped showing improvement a while ago and they decided they were done with me for now. Dr. wants another MRI to try and figure out why I still have too much pain, instability etc... Surgery is still being debated, may have a decision on that after the MRI - if the insurance says I can have it.
*sigh*
