Altered Thoughts - MRI update

Hi everyone,
Latest news: MRI shows that ligament is still completely torn. Recommendation from Dr. is surgery. I haven't decided what to do. Frankly I'm terrified.

Well, you can get a second opinion. Frankly though - if it hasn't healed on it's own - surgery may just be the way to go. **hugs**

*hugs* Since this is already a second opinion I'm going to go with it and get the surgery. Its just awfully scary to go under anesthesia for me. But I know that getting the surgery is likely the only way for me to get off the crutches.

No fun. But since it hasn't been healing on its own, the long term prospects may well be better with the surgery.

Its true that the long term prospects look better if I get the surgery. Especially since without the surgery there is a high likelyhood that I won't be able to get free of the crutches anytime soon.

Knowing whats wrong must help, does your insurance cover the surgery? I don't even know how that works for you. I'll agree that surgery is scary, but continued pain and the potential for further damage have to be scarier. Keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well.

Thanks for keeping your fingers crossed. I'm really hoping to be off crutches by FKO but right now that's not looking likely. Yes my insurance will cover the surgery so at least from a financial view I don't have to worry much.

Surgery and anesthesia are both scary -- but healing is good. And largely they know what they're doing with both.

Yeah they both are but I fell pretty ok about this, nervous still but not as scared as I was. I did learn that I won't have to deal with being put under general, they apparently can do the operation using nerve blocks.

Will you be at 'Fusion? I'm planning on being there even though I won't be very mobile. It might actually be a chance for us to sit and chat for a bit. 'g'
